When I went to the Van Gogh Museum, it coincided with a temporary exhibition that alternated paintings of the Dutch artist with Japanese ukiyo-e artists that could have influenced his way of understanding art.
The idea was interesting but in practice I discovered that the Japanese were very, very, very good and Van Gogh, on the other hand, when compared to them, was like a mere sundays artist.
Fallen like this the myth I decided to make to version of one of his best known series, the sunflowers. This image I show here is an almost finished version.
