ABOUT THE LOGGERHEAD TURTLE
Sea turtles are true oceanic swimmers that rarely come close to land except to breed. The loggerhead turtle is the most common in Europe, as a breeding species in the Canary Islands and (locally) in the Mediterranean. The adult has a very large, elongated-oval, reddish-brown carapace with a yellowish plaston.
It is up to 1.2 meters long. It lays up to six clutches of up to 200 eggs. Eats crustaceans and mollusks. Read more about the loggerhead turtle
