The SECOND Best Artist in the World

Today I bring you «Night in the Village» a version I made by Hasui Kawase (1883 - 1957). I would go out on a limb and say that Kawase is the second Best Artist of the World.

One of the things I like most about this and other Japanese artists is that exquisite way they had to transport us to the time in which they lived.

They are like little time machines. You're in 2025 and suddenly BAM! you've been transported to 1940.

My version of «noche en el pueblo» was sold at auction to Joaquin Cogollos.

I might regret selling her if I didn't know that she is in good hands and before going to bed he takes her down from the wall, puts a blanket on her and says goodnight.....

This is what it was like at that Legendary Auction™.

PS: The registration list for the next Legendary Auction™ closes on Thursday. If you want to get in, don't be too distracted

PS2For 2025, I set an auction record of €400 and I have already set a goal for 2026: €1,200. It's going to be an incredible year.

20 years of stone crushing

It's starting to get cooler, so today I'm going to tell you about Wim Hof.

You will know him for having popularized ice baths in Western Europe.

A crack!

I came across your work 5 years ago on the recommendation of a friend. Since then I usually take cold showers in the mornings. The first winter I was very radical. Now not so much.

Five years ago Wim Hof was more mocked than applauded. Nowadays you can find ice baths in LIDL and some people take a cold shower (just in case it's as good as they say).

Wim Hof is a very funny guy (you can watch it on youtube) and an example of unwavering constancy.

It has taken him 20 to 30 years to be taken seriously.

20 years of stone crushing.
Great Wim Hof.

Legal problems with Tintin

I want to categorically deny the rumor that I am a reincarnation of Hergé, creator of Tintin.

It is true that my drawing style has many similarities (which I am very flattered about).

And it is also true that he passed away in 1983, a few months before I was born (and in the same year).

But these are coincidences.
Or not? I think so...

The thing is that until I'm 75 years old I won't be able to draw Tintin without having legal problems with Moulinsart (the owners of the rights).

I already received a threatening email a few years ago for one of my versions of Tintin and I would not like to receive another one of those emails or end up in court paying a fine of 30.000€ and 10 months in prison (This one paid dearly).

...

Look, you know what?
I don't care about Moulinsart!
The next auction features Tintin.

Registration open for the next auction

PS: The registration includes a surprise contest. You don't have to bid to enter it.

PS2: This image below is the one for which I received a threat from Moulinsart (read the caption).

‍Because that illustration is a copy of the one I made. They plagiarized it 😂... I have no idea where it comes from, I found it on the internet... I think it's in Thailand....

Exhibiting with Rembrand

There is one thing that I have proven: most people who start painting and give up do so because they have too high expectations.

It's like starting a marathon without ever having run before. Of course you're going to quit.

Or like wanting to exhibit next to Rembrand without ever having picked up a paintbrush. You'll get demoralized.

It is necessary to go «poquet by poquet».
No rush.

(I'd say it's good for almost everything)

The good news is that you don't need much to have a great time drawing. Kids prove it every day. If you put expectations aside, art is very rewarding.

And if you are going to start painting, do it with a small group of children. You'll have fun. I assure you.

PS: The little online course I made is about that, and it's free for you (and for your people too) use the code MasterclassMarroiak. Go to the course

How to kill sales in the art world

Last Wednesday I met with a former art director who had been working in Madrid for multinationals and top brands. He had had a great relationship with artists and among other things he told me why so many of them (even those with hundreds of thousands of followers) are obsessed with having more followers and more likes on the networks.

Here's how it works:

A young artist starts selling his paintings for about 500€.

More celebration is needed

One thing I've learned recently is that ALWAYS when something (whatever it is) ends, give yourself a chance to celebrate, share and rest.

The system is designed so that you don't do it. It wants you at full throttle all the time. Don't stop. But you have to resist.

And as yesterday ended the last auction (at an irresistible price of 250€) just when I hit the send button I will go to the beach and take a nice dip. A short one. But a good dip. Because you have to recharge your batteries.

Because there is news...
A few...
But not today.

Today it is time to celebrate and give a well-deserved and huge congratulations to Ferranete!!!!

Thank you for being there!
I'm going to the beach.
Don't forget to celebrate.

Eight Months of Legendary Auctions™.

We have been auctioning for almost eight months now and I want to celebrate with a brief history of how we got here:

The first auction
The first auction started on February 17, 2025. Only one person bid, who won an original tribute to Toriyama for 10€ (Image above. I look at it and I don't believe it - I want to buy it back!!!). Congratulations to the winner.

Next auctions
The first auction aroused some interest among subscribers and followers in social networks and the following days and weeks several more works were auctioned. Prices went up until reaching a record high of 200€ with La Casa de la Marquesa.
