The neighborhood is of Arab origin - After the expulsion of the Moors in 1609 it was repopulated with people from the lands of the Republic of Genoa, especially from the villages of Rezzo and Triora, where there are pockets of Occitan Provençal population from which some of the surnames of the repopulators seem to come: Peyrón/Peiró, Estrugo/Estruch, Ferrayrón/Ferrairó, etc....

As a result of the demographic growth of Gandía, the neighborhood has numerous infrastructures such as the Parc del Païs Valencià, the Benipeixcar Public School, or the Benipeixcar Public Library, as well as being located a short distance from the National Police and Courts.
