ABOUT VENUS
The Venus of Willendorf is an 11-centimetre Paleolithic sculpture dated* between 27,500 and 25,000 BC. C. It was found in 1908 by Johann Veran in Willendorf (Austria) on the banks of the Danube. For more than obvious reasons (the sculpture is very old) the origin and cultural meaning of the work is unknown. It could represent a pregnant woman, a chubby woman, mother earth… it could even be a simple sculptural exercise for an apprentice. See more remixed art paintings.
